This picture represents Daniel's Burnham work called :"The Statue of the Republic." It was World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago during the year of 1893. The major principles of this statue are based on symmetry, balance, and glory. I believe Daniel Burnham begun building the statue in order to show the world that Chicago had risen from the ashes of the Great Chicago Fire which had destroyed much of the city in 1871. Mainly, ceremonies for the fair were held on October 21, 1892, but the fairgrounds were not actually opened to the public until May 1, 1893. The fair continued until October 30, 1893. Personally, I admire this picture because the statue looks very brilliant. It reminds me the Olympics and how society used to dress back in the time. The statue is also looks like a gold made which makes it more priceless.
